Investment in the Future: Commissioning of New Development Center
The packaging market is growing and with it the requirements and wishes of customers. In order to meet this trend, Zerhusen Kartonagen invested in a new development center which, among other things, offers optimal conditions for the development department. The task of the development department is to develop innovative and creative concepts for new cardboard boxes and to present these prototypes to customers.
Therefore, a production hall for the manufacture of sample boxes, offices for employees of the Packaging Development and Accounting departments, as well as modern presentation rooms for customers were built on an area of 1,250 square meters at Industriestraße. With this investment of around 2 million euros, Zerhusen Kartonagen is ideally equipped for future tasks and can meet the increased demands of its customers. These place increasing value on an appealing presentation of the prototypes. In addition, with a growing customer base, requests for more specialized packaging have also increased.
Thanks to the corrugator, which has been in operation for two years, Zerhusen Kartonagen is well positioned for new customer business. Currently, 190 million square meters of corrugated board are produced per year; based on existing capacities, an increase to 210 million is quite possible in a few years. And the demand is there. However, the prerequisite is that all areas are coordinated with each other: Corrugated board production, converting and logistics. The development center is an important building block in achieving this goal.
