Photovoltaic System Installed with an Output of 1MW
As part of our sustainability strategy, we have set ourselves the goal of generating our own electricity to cover 3% of our total electricity consumption by 2024.
The production of corrugated board and cardboard packaging is energy-intensive, and our energy consumption is increasing year by year as the company grows. In order to counteract this trend, we introduced our energy management system in 2018 with the aim of reducing energy consumption, improving energy efficiency, and examining the extent to which we can cover the remaining energy requirements from regenerative sources. In working groups, we defined the steps to be taken in this process by 2025, localized potential savings and defined efficiency measures. Of course, they also have to be implemented.
Now we have installed a photovoltaic system with an output of 1MW on an area of 6,000 m². We expect this to produce 1 million kWh of electricity per year, which is roughly equivalent to our average monthly electricity requirement. This means that we will even exceed our set target for 2024.
It is envisioned that our second plant will be equipped with its own PV system in the future.
