Construction at the Corrugator: Building the Foundation
Last November, we reported on our investments for 2025/2026. Now the progress is becoming visible: preparations for the new module facer on corrugator 2, “Vicky,” are in full swing in our corrugated board hall.
Upgrading a machine while it remains in operation is a particular challenge. That is why precise planning and close coordination among everyone involved are essential. As early as January, the former paper roll storage area behind the line was largely dismantled. Beginning in early February, the concrete floor was removed across an area of around 750 square meters and the ground beneath was prepared. Work is now underway on the next step: constructing the new foundation.
In addition to the base for the module facer, five underground conveyor lines are being installed. In the future, these lines will handle the feed and return of the paper webs. The entire drive system will be installed beneath the floor, leaving only the recessed conveyor belts visible once the work is complete. The hall floor is currently being closed in two construction phases, which are scheduled to be finished by mid-April. At the same time, the supply lines for cables, water, air, and steam are being extended.
After the foundation has fully cured, the next major milestone will follow in May: the module facer will be delivered, installed, and connected in mid-May, with commissioning scheduled for early June.
The additional module facer from BHS Corrugated will further enhance the performance of our high-capacity line, “Vicky.” In the future, we will be able to produce double-wall formats directly on the machine. This will provide greater flexibility and increase our production capacity.
